The brew group is the heart of your De'Longhi: this is where the coffee is pressed and brewed. Often it isn't broken, just dirty. So clean it first, and only replace it if that doesn't help.
How to clean the brew group
- Switch the machine off with the on/off button and wait until shutdown has fully finished. Only then pull out the plug.
- Open the door on the side, squeeze the two red buttons and carefully pull out the brew group.
- Rinse it with lukewarm water and leave it to dry. No washing-up liquid and not in the dishwasher.
- Put it back and press it until it clicks into place.
Brew group won't come out or go in?
Don't force it. The brew group only goes in and comes out when the machine has been switched off correctly. After a power cut, or if the plug was pulled during shutdown, the mechanism is in the wrong position. Switch the machine on, wait until the start-up procedure has finished, switch off with the on/off button, wait until that has finished, and try again.
When to replace it?
If the brew group is clean and one of these problems persists, it is probably worn out:
- the machine leaks at the brew group;
- it grinds, but no coffee comes out;
- the coffee grounds stay wet or fall apart.
Does this brew group fit your machine?
